Globist

Globist'i hesap açmadan kullanabilirsin.

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 16 October 2026

Globist is a news app. This page explains what the app stores, where it is kept and how to delete it. The app is free and shows ads in the news feed (see Ads below). Globist uses no analytics or tracking tools of its own, and never sells personal data.

Using Globist without an account

You can use Globist without signing up. In that case no account or profile is created for you on our servers: what you read, save and prefer stays on your phone. Reading and preparing AI summaries requires an account.

What we store if you create an account

  • Your email address and sign-in method (email, Apple or Google).
  • If you choose "Hide My Email" with Apple, we only see the relay address Apple generates, not your real one.
  • The name and profile picture link your Apple or Google account shares.
  • Your invite code, who invited you (if you entered a code) and how many people you invited.
  • Your daily summary rights counter: each new country summary uses one right.
  • For country summaries you prepare, which account prepared the summary (see AI summaries below).
  • The countries, sources and topics you follow.
  • The date your account was created.

Only you can read these records; database rules block access by other users.

What stays on your phone only

Saved articles, the news cache, translated headlines, your interface language, your view preference (list or cards) and your session are stored on your device, not on our servers. Deleting the app deletes them. Language packs you download also stay on your phone: on Android they are deleted with the app; on iPhone Apple manages them, and you can delete them in Settings → Apps → Translate.

AI summaries

Globist AI writes two kinds of summary. The What happened in the world today briefing is prepared on our server every morning from the headlines of news outlets around the world and contains no personal data. A country's Today's brief is prepared by a signed-in user: your phone collects that country's Google News headlines and sends them to our server, which passes the headlines to Google Gemini and stores the summary it writes.

A country summary is shown to every signed-in user who views that country in the same language during the same hours. To count rights and prevent abuse, we store which account prepared it; this is never shown to other users and is deleted if you delete your account. The summaries themselves contain no personal data, and older ones are deleted over time.

Reporting AI content

If you report a text written by Globist AI using Report content in the app, we keep the following so we can review it: the text you reported, which summary it belongs to (its date, language and country), the reason you chose and your note, if you wrote one. If you're signed in, the report is linked to your account and is deleted along with it. We use reports only to review them and to improve Globist AI.

To limit abuse, a short-lived counter is kept for reports and invite code attempts: tied to your account if you're signed in, or to your IP address if you're not. The counter is used only for this limit and clears its old entries on its own.

Location

Globist never asks for or uses your device location. You choose which country you want to read. For ads, Google may estimate your approximate location from your IP address (see Ads below).

Ads

To stay free, Globist shows Google AdMob ads in the news feed. An ad appears as its own card labelled "Ad"; it is never mixed into the news content.

  • To select and measure ads, Google may process your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android) along with device and usage information, and may estimate your approximate location (such as country or city) from your IP address. Globist never sees or stores this data and does not build a profile of you.
  • In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, a consent screen appears before any ad is shown. You can change your choices at any time in the app under Settings → Privacy options.
  • On iPhone and iPad the system tracking prompt also appears. If you decline, the advertising identifier is not used; you still see ads, but they are less relevant to you. You can change this in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

You can read how Google processes data for advertising on How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Service providers

We share data only as far as each service below needs it. The companies we share personal data with are bound by their terms and data processing agreements to protect it at least as well as this policy does.

  • Supabase — account and database infrastructure, where the records above and the AI summaries are kept.
  • Google News — headlines are fetched directly by your phone, so Google sees your IP address, as with any internet request.
  • Translation services (Google Translate, MyMemory) — receive the headline text to translate, never your identity. Version 1.0.0 of the app also sent headlines to LibreTranslate; later versions don't.
  • On-device translation (Apple Translate on iPhone, Google ML Kit on Android) — if you download a language pack in Settings → Downloaded Languages, headlines in that language are translated on your phone when Google Translate can't be reached; during this, the headline text doesn't leave your phone. On Android the app uses Google ML Kit for this feature. ML Kit sends Google device and app information, an installation identifier, performance metrics and the selected languages to find errors and for usage statistics; it doesn't send the translated headlines.
  • Google Gemini — writes the AI summaries. Our server sends Google's Gemini API only news headlines and the names of the outlets that published them; your name, email, account ID or any other personal data is never sent. We use the paid Gemini API: Google does not use this content to improve its products and keeps it only for a limited time to prevent abuse.
  • Google AdMob — ads in the news feed; see the Ads section above.
  • Apple and Google — only when you choose them to sign in.
  • Gmail (SMTP) — to deliver verification and password reset codes.

Deleting your data

In the app, Settings → Account → Delete account permanently deletes your account and all the server records above. This cannot be undone. For data on your phone, deleting the app is enough. You can also request deletion by writing to globist.app@gmail.com.

Retention

Account records are kept until you delete your account. The record of which account prepared a summary is deleted at the latest when you delete your account. AI content reports are kept for as long as needed to review them.

Your rights

You may ask what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and request a copy. Write to the address above.

Age requirement

Globist is intended for users aged 18 and over. It is not directed at anyone under 18 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published here and the date above is updated. Significant changes are also announced in the app.
